Wallet is a new feature in the MOBY MOVE app that changes the way you pay for your rides, making it easier to understand how much your ride costs and reducing the amount of transactions on your card, to benefit our daily bike riders!
HERE IS HOW IT WORKS:
From July 19th to use the Wallet feature you will have to re-select your city (e.g. Dublin) from the Cities and Ride Plans in the settings tab of the app, then select the Wallet-PAYG plan.
Before riding, you will need to have a Wallet balance at or above the minimum (€5). When you switch to Wallet for the first time, your wallet balance will be €0 and a first top up is required. You can top up any amount starting from €5, with pre-set amounts of €5, €10, €20 and €50 suggested in the app.
Your app home screen will now look slightly different, with your current Wallet balance displayed. When it comes to ending your ride, you may find yourself in different scenarios:
a) IF THE COST OF YOUR RIDE IS LESS THAN YOUR WALLET BALANCE:
The ride ends normally and you can see the remaining Wallet balance in your homescreen.
b) IF THE COST OF YOUR RIDE IS ABOVE YOUR WALLET BALANCE:
In this case, Wallet allows you to choose how you pay the outstanding amount:
Simply top up your Wallet balance, meaning the ride cost is within the newly topped up Wallet balance. When done, the ride ends and you can see the remaining Wallet balance in your homescreen.
OR
Pay for the ride using you payment card details previously entered in the app. By selecting this option, the remaining Wallet balance is used up, and the outstanding cost is taken directly from your payment card, and the ride will end.
If your payment card does not have enough funds the ride then ends and your Wallet balance is updated on your homescreen to show a negative figure reflecting the cost of the ride. Please bear in mind that an additional fees (as specified in the app) will be charged, hence we would always suggest topping up your Wallet balance instead and whenever possible.
Finally, customers choosing to pay by Wallet will no longer see a temporary hold on their bank statement of €10 as you are paying by funds already deposited to the app and the only MOBY transactions on your card will be for the Wallet top up amounts you choose to make.
First switch to the WALLET PAYG plan in the cities and ride plans tab of the app. You will then see you wallet balance on the home screen (which will initally be zero)
You can now top up at any time by selecting My Wallet and your desired top up amount
